Mesa Tres
About
Mesa Tres is a 1,000 m² (10,764 sq ft) restaurant and bar on Costanera Norte in Buenos Aires, on the stretch of riverfront the city redeveloped as Distrito Joven. It is built around a courtyard held by a shallow pool, with a rooftop terrace a floor above facing the river.
MORE
The pool runs from the entrance, crosses the semi-covered walkway and wraps the courtyard. Rather than route the arrival around it, the project sets stone slabs just clear of the surface and takes the way in straight across, so entering the restaurant means crossing it. The bar sits on the far edge, its glass front folding away entirely, so the line between drinking inside and outside effectively disappears.

Past that point the register drops. The dining room is lower and closer, with communal tables built for staying rather than for turning, and a bar at table height for ten that faces straight into the kitchen. The kitchen has no pass and no door: it is one of the rooms, worked in full view under a latticed timber ceiling that runs its whole length.
Two rooms, one material language, never repeated literally from one to the other. Warm timber and raw stone throughout — the bar counter in black granite, the tabletops in dark speckled stone, the concrete of the building left as it is. Vertical timber screens and hanging planting close the courtyard against the avenue.
A floor above, the bar continues onto a terrace split between covered and open, facing the river across the road. Below, the courtyard; above, open sky. It is the same sequence one level up. Mesa Tres opened in may 2026.
