Miraflores
About
The interiors of Miraflores, a 407 m² (4,381 sq ft) single-family house in Miraflores, Garín, province of Buenos Aires, work inside an architecture of exposed concrete, stone and glass that has almost no interior walls. Warmth had to come from something other than partitions.
MORE
One piece of timber runs from the entrance through the living room and into the kitchen, changing job as it goes. It is storage at the door, open shelving in the living room, a wine cellar, then kitchen cabinetry, and it ends as a seat built into a circular window. One piece does the work of the walls the plan does not have.

Living, dining and kitchen sit side by side facing the garden and the pool. The kitchen stays open to them and can be shut with a black-framed glass enclosure when it needs to be, so the plan changes without anything being built. Beyond the glass the gallery repeats the room in the open air: a dining table, a bar, a fireplace and loose seating, on the same floor and under the same slab.
The private wing is entered along a corridor lined in timber, which leads to the master suite, three en-suite bedrooms and a playroom. The house has one floor, so the distance between the social rooms and the bedrooms is the only privacy available, and the corridor is what makes it.
Tundra Grey marble and exposed concrete set the mineral base, timber warms it, and black metal draws the lines. Nothing loose in the house leaves that palette.
